A Phase IA/IB Trial of Leflunomide in Patients with PTEN-Altered Advanced Solid Malignancies and Breast Cancer
This research study is testing a medicine called leflunomide for people who have advanced cancers—including breast cancer—that have a specific change in a gene called PTEN. This gene helps control how cells grow, and when it’s not working right, cancer can grow more easily. Leflunomide is a drug usually used for conditions like arthritis. Researchers think it might also help fight cancer by blocking how cancer cells make the building blocks of their DNA, which can slow or stop the cancer from growing. The main goal is to find out if leflunomide is safe and what dose works best without causing serious side effects.
Advanced: Advanced cancer means that the cancer cells from the original tumor (primary tumor) get loose, spread by traveling through the body, and start a new tumor (metastatic tumor) somewhere else in the body. |
